I've been looking at the instructions again and not having had a regulator before and the lingo is unfamiliar, I've attached a scan in the hopes that someone will enlighten me.

The thermometer is on the top of the regulator, about 10 feet from the batteries, above the hob, and next to the hab door (apparently the worst place)is it a big problem or is there an easy way around it, I also don't have anything attached to the load terminal, but these instructions seem to require it, any ideas on that one.

Had one of those on the last MH, no need to worry about temperature as that is an extra option. Also you don't need to connect a load. There are a lot of features on this reg, but with your size of panel, then just leave it in the standard mode.
I played around with it for a couple of days, but once I found it worked as it should I left it to do its thing. On the current MH the reg is in the garage, so I just bought a basic unit with a couple of LED's and never ever look at it.

We have the same one Kev and just keep it on the factory presets and it will work fine, ours does.

Richard..

Thanks Colin and Richard,

I take your points, and very well might end up leaving it alone, but I assume these adjustments could have an effect on how much charge I can get into the 2 batteries, and me being me, I'm still curious, so I've been looking into this a bit more, and the temperature is important as it is used for the regulator to determine the state of charge.

I've also been looking at the reg itself and taking it through it functions, and it's got a load somewhere of 0.3amps going somewhere, but can only assume t's the reg itself as the power is off at the hab control panel, and nothing connected to the load terminal, speaking of which, I wondered if putting the pump on was a good idea, the main pump switch is less than a foot away, so wouldn't be a huge task, for that matter the whole control panel is right next it, just curious Razz Razz

As for the instructions, near the bottom of the left page and on the right page there are instructions for setting up various things such as load on/off charge on/off adjustments.

I have 2 x 110ah batteries 1.5 mtrs apart connected by 40mm cable with 2 x 200amp megafuses, also a 40watt flat solar panel, and am getting a 1100 watt inverter with a 2200watt surge.

So what would be the appropriate settings, as try as i might I can't find any figures for that, the regulator website seems to be non existent too.

We're off for a few days this afto, won't be back til Wednesday/Thursday.

Have a good weekend all.

TTFN

Kev.

I was looking at my regulator while away this weekend and I'm not sure it's set up properly, and would like some expert advice on what levels to re-set it up with, if there is someone who can help.

The current set up is as follows.

Load 000004 (odd as nothing on it at all, and why so many zeros?)

Battery SOC 80%

Charge off at 11.00V

Load off at 10.9V

Load on at 12.6V

Charge 000058ah (what is the pic below saying 58ah, .58ah or 5.8ah?)

The instructions posted earlier show how to do the adjustments, the English is not too good, but I can just about make sense of it, enough to make the changes reccomended.

Kev.

PS I'm not sure if it would make a difference to any suggestions, but the two 110ah batteries are not yet connected together, not had the room to get underneath yet to run cables.

Kev,

Your picture and instructions as posted refer to 58 Ah. So you will set it up with 000220 Ah.

The voltage & ampereage will be input as shown on your instructions xxx.x volts or amps.

Hope that helps.

Not entirely sure what you mean there.

At a guess, you are saying that the regulator is set up at the factory for a 58ah battery, and as I will have 220ah I should change the setting to 000220 to take account of this, is that correct.

What effect if any would this have.

BTW there is a revolving view of the control panel if left alone , it reads as follows

Charge = whatever the sun is putting into the panel.

Battery anything from 12.5Vup to 13.8V I've seen so far

Load always = 00.00ah.

I wish the controller instructions said a bit more than they do.

Kev

As you can tell my electrical knowledge is endless.

I have the same controller.

Like you I found the instructions not to be a big help.

The load reading will only show what you are drawing from the controller IE if you have anything connected to the 2 right hand connection's.

I just left the rest of mine on the default setting and I get upto 4.5AH charge from out 85W panel. When the van has been stood for a while the hab batteries are always at 13.8 Volts.

Hi Richard,

That would be OK, but I don't have anything at all connected to the load connectors, as I was unsure what to connect there, I'm a bit more aware on that side of things after doing a bit of reading over the weekend, but for now, it is sans load.

Kev.
