Has anyone any Knowledge of an affordable Job Booking Database for a Service Company?.
We currently use ServiceBase It is an old DOS system, ours was purchased in 1995. However, it is on its last legs now (well the computers that it will run on). Realy only compatible with Windows 95/98, ME at a push.
I have it running on XP but as it is a DOS program it keeps crashing blaming lack of memory. I have not a clue how to create a "Virtual DOS" machine. Otherwise I would probably try and keep the existing system alive.
Hope someone can help?

If you are running a business then do the job properly. Get Microsoft Office professional, it includes access, a utility for designing your web site etc etc..
Open office is not fully compatible with all Microsoft applications. If you need to communicate with other businesses or the tax man then its Microsoft they are happy with.
I'm sorry your wrong, you can tell OpenOffice to save any document as a Microsoft format, so for example save as Word 97. Of course its not 100% compatible but I've never found a document that it doesn't open. I use it all of the time and its an excellent piece of software backed by Sun (who are a very big corporation).
You can even produce pdf's straight from the package for anyone that wants them.
The UK Government is committed to opensource software and they will accept documents produced by OpenOffice - I do it myself.
Don't knock it until you have tried it and best of all its FREE.
