HI !! ALL
i bought a camper in germany last year and it came with a kathrien and square sat dish , trouble is i thought well it will never work here on the sky wave signal does any one know if these can be used for our country to watch sat t.v.

miss my sky on the road , i do not mind the freeview but i like sky , just love the sci-fi, channel. plus lots of motoring programs to watch .
i was asking lots of questions last year in one of the shows about / what happens to the old sat systems taken off motorhomes when they upgrade to bigger and better , was told they are flying out the side of the shop as boys that take these off for some peolpe , can sell them on and make a few bob,
good on them i say , just wish some one would make my day and say hey mate WANT a sat dish !!!
that would be nice Very Happy .

ok take care all you lot in here and have fun ( if you see a guy looking in at your sky one late at night on some site , dont be surprised it,s only me , be kind lol!!!

denton. Surprised

Hi

I borrowed a Burstner last year with one of these square dishes and I could not get it to work for love or money.

Hi merctoby

Mine came with an analogue square dish + kathrein setup

I uprated dish to Bas60 from Roadpro ( straight swap on the pole) and mated it to a cheapie maplins digital receiver, worked ok

Have since acquired a 12v/240v pace sky box + I think a (Freeview?)card off ebay and touch wood all seems ok.

When I initially got the sky I had to contact sky so that they could reactivate the signal. They informed me that periodically they send out a signal and if the box is not receiving they shut the signal off. I dont know if this is gospel or just sky being awkward.

Any Ideas folks?

Ian

Depending which model it is the it is possible to receive Sky. Mine is the BAS60 and it works no problem.

Hi

I had an old kathrein square dish on our euramobil, it worked fine for Sky. If your unlucky and have a really old square dish, it will only work on analogue, so is useless for UK TV such as Sky or freesat.

I'll just my tuppence to the above as we also have the same system on our van. It works well for us right over to the west of Ireland.

One big problem though - YOU MUST REMEMBER TO WIND IT DOWN.

I damaged the mast by forgetting to drop it when moving to a different site on a campsite. Replacing it was not difficult but annoying that I had to do it.

HI SNELLY IAN AND ALL YOU REALLY HELPFUL PEOPLE !!

thanks for the reply coming back here , how do you tell if the sat dish is an anologe or digital signal , is their a serial number or some thing on the dish ?,
being stupid which is some thing i do often especially when it come,s to some thing i know nothing about which is this subject,

the box is kathrien , so are we suggesting you can hook up a sky box pace box ect, ect,
thought this sat might only work for the box itself or some thing german,
how much are these box,s and where would i find one , 240/ 12v sounds real good for me , we will be in pickering soon a week , welland week-end cornwal week-end that is a bit of time to iron out this sort of problem ,
this is now an interesting subject sat being german and that , and possibly working on our digital signal ,
thank you all you really are better than talking to some of the guy,s that simply want to sell and then cannot find the time to give you details you need when you hit a snag ,
hope to get as much feed back as poss on this and what has come back so far has helped me come a long way to seeing the possibility,s ,
Very Happy thanks again and happy camping to you all , have fun then .
denton.

Sorry to bear bad tidings, but I had one on my old camper and found it a real pain and hardly could ever get a signal. I'm looking for a new sat system for my new camper and would go for a crankup (either camos or maxview) but have been scarred by that Kathrein.I even bougnt a new BAS60 dish from Roadpro but still found it impossible to get a the right signal.
I even went on top of the van to set azurmith and degrees east.No joy.I recommend that you bin it and get a Maxview or Camos crank up (Maxview is winning for me at present) or if you are feeling flush get a fully automated one.

well dam !!!

i could very well agree with you ! but the the very ting that seems impossible seems always possible ( if you never give in and seek the proper advise and the people like in here ,( you will !! find your answer ) besides i love my t.v. gotta say this , but i would never spend the sort of money some people pay just to watch t.v. crazy lazy LOL!!! you just as well get your self a tripod sat as i know they work , no.! dam . crank up max , lot of people say here have read it brilliant , and some people have said crap! i was in breen one year sitting in the sun trying to put up my sat , never happened i searched around see that other people had sat and yes they did so you must be able to get sky what ever , but i eventually gave in sitting in the chair watch my analogue t.v. good picture too, and then later that day a bloody great huge motorhome came in and set up had to go see this thing as it was the bees knee.s
so i seen it and he did not seem interested in talking to the local caravan and small vessals .
well i had the time of my life sitting their , the wife was wondering what was the matter with me and my amusement , well the above had the full kit, on board his huge motorhome and the sat on the roof , it was like a dalek gone mad , it went on for age,s guess the guy in the motorhome thought , well i bought this self seeking sat and it will find it , well it never did . and i watched my t.v. after all , and it did not bother me in the end that i could not get sky , wonderful.
so i will get the answer to my question in the end , from the people who use them , here .
when it happens i will let you know , but good luck with yours ,
all the very best , denton.
